Who We Are & What Do We Do?

In January 2007 Ithaki founded the Animal Welfare and Environmental Association: ” Argos ”, which up to this date has approximately 100 members. The Association started was officially recognised on April 1 of the same year under licence No. 533 / 2-5-07. We are a non profit Association that consists exclusively of local volunteers.

The name was chosen in honour of Odysseus’ dog, Argos. If you have read the story you will know all about him. If you haven’t read the story we urge you to go do so.

Our purpose is to control the population of stray animals on the island and to feed help and care for any sick or injured animals that have nobody to take care of them.

Whether it be helping with food, notifying us of sick/injured animals or giving financially, every little helps and we appreciate every kind of support.

Financial donations are of great benefit to us and will help us buy or contribute to the following:

  • Neutering the stray animals of the island
  • Feeding stray animals
  • Making sure all sick or injured animals are seen as quickly as possible
  • Helping us upkeep the building we currently use for vetinary visits
  • Buy medical equipment & medications
